Relax

Put your toes in that sand, quick sand
Your jaw line melts into a fond sigh of recollection
The water washes worries from between your toes
And you toast to the gods of this days beauty

Its not home that has you pining for the simple things
There is nothing simple about eating your routine
Puff pastry moments are sweet but go down too fast
Here the flavors of the moment drip over the sides of your tongue

So tell me your deepest desire in crosstitch detail
Sew my lips shut with a touch from your perfect finger
With a wave and a smile you walk away knowing
That I was here and I filled your day with pearls

When sunset arrives with its finality and promise
When the silver fish of ideas are slippery but still
When the beating of our hearts gives way to shallow gasps
You think of me in this place and breathe a heavy sigh

Its time to relax.....

  1. oh, man, eating your routine. and pretty sure my desires aren't allowed in cross-stitch. :)
love this. love the conclusion here, when it gives way... think of me. sigh. i should heed your advice to relax, just maybe.

  2. It's funny how my toes in sea sand always takes me back to my childhood, when a beach was a new discovery. This poem has a soothing feel of reminiscence, and promise, too, that there will be days like this.

  3. Not so sure about soothing and relaxing...I think there is trickery in there somewhere ..
After all: aren't silverfish related to scorpions?
    A heady mix of metaphor.

  4. Oh, it sounds like homesickness for vacation places...paradise to be exact. Or it makes me want some of that! Such awesomeness in this and I love these two:

"So tell me your deepest desire in crosstitch detail
Sew my lips shut with a touch from your perfect finger"

Nice and closing with the gasps...mm-mmm good always!!

  5. You offer up so many images, so much information. The escape, the handicrafts, culinary treats. Lots to enjoy here.

  6. as kim says beautiful imagery... thank you for all the kind words over at my blog. I just amended the post, realizing I won't have a chance to put up anything else until the weekend... there is even music if you feel like going back... anyway... a wonderful poem as always:-)

  9. Wonderful Corey! Just what I needed to reflect on as I head to the valley of dreams!
I love so many lines, but this really dances for me:

"So tell me your deepest desire in crosstitch detail
Sew my lips shut with a touch from your perfect finger
With a wave and a smile you walk away knowing
That I was here and I filled your day with pearls"

    YOU always make me smile!
    Thank you Corey :D

  14. On the timeline this was a heavy full day. It probably got the heaviest with all the sharing but still it was building. Not much here for this reader to relax about until the "day" was over. THEN I "relaxed" like I was told.
