Feeding the World
Biting the worm in half leaves residue for the future
My mother told me to feed my soul but not to forget our universe
You are god when they have lost their faith, feed them the other half
So that you may be whole again and lock hands
Analyzing the ashes created by life's fire prove we are all so much kindling
Powerful reflections in so few but perfectly chosen words.
ReplyDeleteThis work bleeds with a heart big enough to save...powerfully given...thank you, Hero.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the half eaten worm, saving the other part. Birds and reptile eat them, people generally only eat them after lots of tequila or other drink.

I love that closing line. Just perfect.
ReplyDeletePerfect. The sharing of the worm, no other way to go to save your heart.
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant, Corey. Each line carries the full measure of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteand here I thought the only worm you bit in half came out of a bottle of mezcal... good pen, Corey ~
ReplyDeleteLaffin @ M's comment. He knows you well. ;_) These sentences build like bricks, or that amazing ancient masonry that after thousands of years you still can't slip a knife-blade into. Yes, it's fine to leave everything up to a deity, but somehow I think it works better when people tackle people's problems themselves.
ReplyDeletei got lost after eating three worms, of course they were at the bottome of three jiggers of reposado tequila then i turned to ashes. i need this to deal with the present world that seems to be in a tail spin, an eddy caused by our own hand
ReplyDeletenice piece to cogitate, mi amigo
