My Day

Maya Deren

For Susie's Challenge at Imaginary Garden with Real Toads

It wasn't like the day leaked
It was rubbery and naked
Dancing wasn't an option
Do you hear what I'm saying?
Full of truth and knocked about
But it didn't leak

  1. Seems the day didn't spring a leak and let the truth out. You have captured the mood and style of Maya. She was definitely unique. I am a new fan of her work. I am so glad I discovered her. Thanks for writing for the challenge!!

  3. The legendary Sippy Cup of Life? or maybe the Cosmic Billiken?

  5. So nothing can or will be perfect but so long as it doesn't leak, it's okay.

  6. Love this, Corey. A great distillation of the mood of the film, and your usual quirky POV to balance the rough nakedness of what is under that rubber blanket(ior maybe in the rubber room?)

  8. I love the "but it didnt leak." It sounds a lot like my "at least" approach to life - at least I dont have leprosy, can still walk etc etc.......LOL.

  9. This is quite wonderful, Corey--humorous, mordant, succinct, super-suggestive. My only caveat--dancing should ALWAYS be an option! k.
